Fuel

Of all the energy consumed by a household, about 80% is gas. When a shortage of gas occurs in Europe, we notice it in the Netherlands. A shortage is caused, for example, through sabotage of a pipeline or because less gas comes from Russia. Prices may rise and some foodstuffs are less available because less is produced.

A shortage of oil or fuel, such as petrol and diesel, occurs for example due to a war or international tensions. This affects availability and prices in the Netherlands. Petrol and diesel are made from petroleum.

Currently , enough gas, oil and diesel are available. Gas stocks have been sufficiently filled for winter. Because of the war, Russian oil is not entering the Netherlands. That oil is now sourced from other countries.
