Cathelijn

Cathelijn (40) is a general practitioner and lives with her husband and two sons.

She has gathered together an emergency kit because to her it seems sensible if everyone is better prepared for unexpected situations and are able to fend for themselves. "The world seems to be becoming less stable, so perhaps it could be useful."

"Last year, a Ukrainian mother and her son stayed at our house. Our conversations have urged me to think about putting together an emergency kit. Since then, I've provided for the most essential things in the house that will allow us to be self-sufficient for a while, like long-life food, a camping cooker and cash money. I also have a small stock of medications, such as paracetamol, ORS and Imodium for diarrhoea."

"I understand that not everyone has an emergency kit yet. It is not a ‘fun’ topic to have to think about, but I recommend it to all my friends: it is actually very logical to be prepared for unexpected situations."
